If the front windshield wipers are turned on when the wiper blades are frozen to the windshield, one of the linkage rods may bend or separate from the wiper motor. If the windshield wipers fail to operate, the driver's visibility can be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the affected front wiper rod with one of a stronger design. This recall is expected to begin by April 14, 2011. The Honda recall number is R72.
We at RepairPal have designated this a medium priority recall; this would change to high in colder climates where the chance of encountering freezing temperatures is greater. Please contact your Honda dealer; they will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
