RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
The seat belt buckles in your car have a small explosive device within them. In a collision, an explosion occurs at each front buckle, which causes the buckle to pull at the seat belt in order to secure the passenger from injury. Near your seat belt buckles is some sound insulation. This insulation could ignite on fire if the pretensioner activates.
What Should You Do?
