RepairPal Expert Overview
An electrical fire could develop in the rear sliding door due to and overheated latch assembly.
Volkswagen notified owners of affected vehicles in October 2010. There may be no symptoms related to this recall. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Wiring for the power siding door may contact the lower sliding door hinge bracket. Over time, the wiring may become damaged, creating an electrical short circuit. This short circuit could cause the latch mechanism located inside the sliding door to overheat and possibly catch fire. Dealers will inspect, repair, and reroute the affected wiring as necessary to correct this concern.
