The Front Seatbelts May Not Secure Seat Occupants as Designed

Affected Cars:

Make Model Year(s)
Porsche Panamera Turbo 2010

Body, Interior & Misc., April 30, 2010

RepairPal Expert Overview

In the event of a crash, the front seatbelts may not restrain the seat occupents as designed.

Porsche will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 30, 2010. If you are experiencing problems with the front seat belts, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call. The Porsche recall number is AA01.

Adjusting the front seats to an extreme forward or rearward position could adversely affect the seatbelt locking mechanism and the seatbelt mount could detach from the anchoring system when the seat belt is fastened or opened. In the event of a crash, the seatbelt may not properly protect the seat occupant, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will install an additional locking element on each front seatbelt anchoring system to address this concern.

Summary: PORSCHE HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA OF A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 PANAMERA S, 4S AND TURBO 4-DOOR SEDAN. IF THE FRONT SEATS ARE ADJUSTED TOWARDS AN EXTREME POSITION, RESULTING IN UNFAVORABLE TOLERANCE OF THE MATING COMPONENTS, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE FUNCTION OF THE LOCKING MECHANISM OF THE SEAT BELT MOUNT CAN NO LONGER BE GUARANTEED.
