RepairPal Expert Overview
The heated seats are made up of wiring, switches, and the element, which is the part that gets hot in order to heat the seat. Mazda has found that there is a possibility for the seat heater circuit to overheat and cause damage to the seat cushion and a risk of fire.
We at RepairPal have designated this a medium priority recall; this would change to high if any problems are noted with the seat heaters. Please contact your Mazda dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The heated seat elements may overheat, causing a fire hazard. Dealers will install an additional ground harness on the seat heater control system. If any damage has already occurred, those parts will be replaced or repaired, too. This recall began on March 9, 2010. The Mazda recall n umber is 5810B.
