A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
A poorly fitting driver's side floor mat may cause the gas pedal to stick at wide open throttle, causing uncontrolled acceleration. A stuck gas pedal can result in very high vehicle speeds, which may lead to a crash. General Motors will notify owners when there is a remedy for this concern. Owners are advised to remove the floor mat and place it in the trunk until the recall remedy is ready. GM recommends that no other floor mat be installed in the interim.
