Brakes
The rear disc brake rotors may not have been manufactured to the proper specifications and in extreme cases, one or both rotors may break resulting in a loss of braking ability at that wheel, increasing stoping distances and the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the rear brake discs and replace them as necessary.
BMW notified owners of affected vehicles in September 2010. There may be no symptoms related to this recall but if you are experiencing problems with the braking system, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
IN AN EXTREME CASE, THE AFFECTED REAR BRAKE DISC COULD BREAK RESULTING IN A LOSS OF BRAKING AT THAT WHEEL INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCES AND THE RISK OF A CRASH.
