THIS STANDARD SPECIFIES REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS USED IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN KILLED OR INJURED IN MOTOR VEHICLE CRASHES AND IN AIRCRAFT.
Certain vehicles equipped with integrated child booster seats were assembled with warning labels that did not include the statement, "Death or serious injury can occur" if child safety systems are not used according to the manufacturer's instructions. Dealers will install new warning labels as necessary. The recall is expected to begin on February 20, 2008. The Volvo recall number is 189.
This could be considered a medium priority recall, evaluated to high if manufacturer's instructions are not followed when using child restraint systems. Please contact your Volvo dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
