RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
On certain vehicles a faulty Automatic Stability Program may cause the vehicle to apply brakes at an inappropriate time, causing loos of control and injury.
What Should You Do?
Hyundai will notify customers of affected vehicles beginning May, 2005. If you have not been contacted, notice out of the ordinary braking, and think your vehicle falls under this recall. You should contact your local dealer. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification Number ready when doing so.
On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with electronic stability program (ESP) , the yaw rate sensor may become too sensitive and may re-calibrate incorrectly. While driving the ESP program may cause the engine to reduce power and may cause a brake at one of the wheels to be inappropriately applied. This may lead to loss of control and a crash. The dealer will Reprogram the ESP unit free of charge. The Hyundai recall # is 068
