Chrysler PT Cruiser Rattle Noise From Clutch

(9 reports)

A gear-like rattle noise may be heard when transmission is in neutral and the clutch pedal is released. A new clutch is commonly required to correct this problem.

I have the same problem but now when i try putting it in other gears then the noise stops Im told its the clutch now the transmission! I dont know what to get fixed -
I can hear a rattle underneath the stick shift when letting off the clutch into 1st gear. It does not happen with the other gears. -
Grinding sound when shifting in between 1st and 2nd gears. Local mechanic told me that it is the clutch and will cost 1200.00 to fix. I love my PT but it's costing too much money to keep fixing at 90,000 the timing belt had to be replaced 700.00 for that repair -
