due to key not being recognized by computer,my car only starts 1 out of 9 - 10 times. Sometimes disconnecting battery(which is new) helps but it appears to be getting worse. I'm told only vw dealer can fix it and its very expensive. Any advice?

Stopped to get fuel, shut car off & when I tried to start the car back up it turned over real slow making a clunking noise in engine-drive train? repeated to try & start twice & on the third time vehicle started like normal, & that"s when the car would not go into to overdrive

Replaced the tranny (tiptronic) with a rebuilt approx 50,000 miles ago. Now having problems with delayed upshifting. No transmission shops for nearly 150 miles of where we live (central British Columbia) but I've been told it might be a selonoid in the transmission???

My starter is working fine, but it doesn't sound like it's disengaging all the way for 5 to 10 seconds after the engine starts. I'd like to take the starter off and see if it's something simple I might be able to oil or replace on the starter but I have NO idea where to start looking for the starter? Do I have to take the Air Filter housing off to get to it from the top? Do I have to try and access it from the bottom? Any help or video would be great?

brake repair was pads all round new front nearside hub one calliper on back 2 days ago no initial problem but today did 1 mile journey stopped briefly flat battery jumped start then alternated warning light on plus anti skid could there be a connection to repair

Use key manually for ignition and to lock all the other doors, but I can't lock driver side door with it.

r/h front flasher + l/h reart flasher u/s. bulbs are fine. emergency flasher switc @ on: same problem. unlock key activation: same problem. Flasher relay faulty? Is there a recall on that?

My abs and engine light are on, and speedo, cruise control, trip control aren' t working. Can i disable abs module without losing speedo, cruise control, trip control ? I don't mind losing abs.

I've dismantled and cleaned it, but the light is still on. How do I now reset the EW code?. I've also read that you can't clean the EGR on this model of Golf, but instead have to replace it with a new valve. Is that Correct?

Not my car but my boss who insists he does it to save money by not engaging the gear system. This is the second steering column in one year. In my opinion it is a false economy but I am far removed from a mechanic

I have tested the wiring it test right, I have tested the Air flow meter and replaced it but still not right.

Check engine light come up when I put the car in drive only and it gives code :"17057 Shift Solenoid Electrical" My mechanic thinks is the torque converter, but I don't have any issues with the transmission it works fine.

Also running a bit rough intermittently and this light comes on when it starts running rough light is not on permantly only when starts to run rough usually when engine heats up a bit.

Hi I checked the fuel rail pressure sensor on connector with a multimeter but the reading is fine 5v supply, linear signal volt output and sensor ground its all fine but I still ordered a new sensor by chance and changed it and since then the car is running perfect and the fault code is gone.
so how can I do another test to know if the sensor is faulty or not because after fitting the new one the output volts readings are exactly the same as the old one so If it is another test to do please let me know how to carry it out ?

gear 1,2,3 and 5 but gear 4 is working and when i try to put other Gears it make a lot of noise except gear 4 please help.

I couldn't shift into the gears anymore on a drive down the coast a few weeks back, but after a while everything was fine. When I brought it to the shop (it's a reputable place) they said it costs $5500 to replace the transmission and the clutch as well as the tire rods on the drivers side. Another shop estimated the same amount though they haven't taken a look at the car. We paid $8000 for it last April, and have been really happy with it though the interior is pretty shotty. The main question is - is it worth it to repair and keep it or is this the start of the end?

Does it have to do with the transmission issues found in some cars?

The first Code(po234) is a turbo over boost I was told. My mechanic is not sure how to address the repair and I have a certain disdain for VW dealers so...the second code is exactly what your forum described it as. Again, multiple troubleshooting steps listed but maybe that list can be narrowed down some? My inspection won't pass until these codes are cleared, I just dropped a sum of money on rear springs/shocks. I am in need of help, please!

New fan control module, new thermal switch, new ac high pressure sensor, new engine temperature sensor. Never wrecked. Checked all relays and wiring. AC clutch works when hot wired directly to the battery. AC compressor clutch will not engage. Seven volts at compressor plug.
