The gear position sensor on the transmission may fail, resulting in illumination of the Check Engine Light and/or a no start condition.

    i have no current going or coming from the ignition coils, the car does not fire and the gear position sensor light keeps flashing constantly.

    Gear position sensor had to be replaced. Initially, we got by with shaking the gear selector around a little, but eventually, it went completely out, with flashing lights all over the dash and the check engine light lit.
