The Eingine May Stall Without Warning

Engine, September 20, 2006

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The engine coolant temperature can vary at the coolant sensor due to its unique location. If these variations are large enough, a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor may occur. If the signal interruption is so brief that the electronic control module (ECM) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning. This condition will commonly occur only and low speed. If the engine stalls without warning a crash may result. Dealers will reprogram the ECM t correct this concern. The Nissan recall number is R0606.

Nissan Recalls 2002-2003 Altimas Due to Defective Gas Tank

Engine, August 18, 2003

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Nissan is recalling 2002-2003 Altimas in cold-weather states because in extremely cold temperatures, moisture in the fuel tank could freeze and form ice crystals, which may obstruct the suction opening of the fuel pump. This can prevent the supply of fuel to the engine and cause the engine to stop, which could result in a crash. Dealers will install a screen at the suction opening of the fuel pump.
