Multiple Parts May be Recommended to Correct Coolant Loss on BMW 540i

Leaks are known to develop in the cooling system. It is common to see more than one part recommended for repair/replacement due to overlapping labor and the use of many plastic parts in the system.

1998 BMW 540i 154,000 mi,
The check coolant light comes on even after topping off the system, but the level is higher. However after about a week the level will drop and I can see some fluid on the garage floor
Radiator, water pump, expansion tank, and thermostat
2002 BMW 540i 185,000 mi,
I have to add coolant every 3 to 4 months about 500 milliliters, the problem has existed since i got the car 120000 miles ago, I have had multiple attempts at fixing with different mechanics none of which have succeeded
Dealer/broker did complete replace of cooling system prior to my purchase. Extensive leaking.

Piece of garbage radiators. Aftermarket is better. Tired of driving past the BMW dealer only to have the car drive itself in.
1994 BMW 540i 153,000 mi,
Replaced all cooling hoses. Bigger problem is the hoses passing through the firewall and the minimal clearance between the three clamps. I switched to VW eared clamps with new hoses and no more leaks.
2003 BMW 540i 106,000 mi,
Coolant leaks and potential timing chain issue
2003 BMW 540i 75,000 mi,
Cracked radiator. Replaced with OEM parts. repair bill was $865.00. If I used an aftermarket replaement I could have saved about $200.00. Not sure I made the decision.
2001 BMW 540i 65,000 mi,
Had a crack in the radiator. The dealer charged me over $2500 to repair everything. It was insane.
