2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse Recalls
The anti-lock brake system unit may corrode internally. This can cause extended brake pedal travel and reduced braking ability. Dealers will inspect, flush and clean the anti-lock brake system hydraulic unit using high grade brake fluid free of charge to resolve the concern.
The attachment for the left fuel tank mounting strap may have been improperly formed, causing the metal to split. In the event the fuel tank is full and the vehicle is involved in a severe collision, the attachment bracket may break, allowing the fuel tank to drop down and possibly causing a fuel leak. Any fuel leak always increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the mounting bracket and perform repairs as necessary. This recall is scheduled to begin on September 20, 2008. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-08-005.
The hydraulic seals in the brake master cylinder may have been installed incorrectly. As a result, the master cylinder could fail without warning, increasing the risk of a crash, Dealers will replace the master cylinder to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on June 28, 2005. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-05-003.
The power brake booster could fail due to improper crimp joints. This could result in total loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and repair the brake booster assembly to correct this concern. Vehicle owners should have been notified by May 24, 2005. They were requested not to drive their vehicles and arrangements were made for a loaner car.
