Airbags use a chemical reaction contained in an inflator module to create the pressure necessary to inflate the bags when deployment is required. These vehicles are being recalled because the front passenger airbag inflator may produce excessive internal pressure when deployed and as a result, the inflator module could rupture, causing metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants. Dealers will inspect and replace any defective passenger front airbag inflator module found.

The fuel sender unit may have been improperly installed in the fuel tank. As a result, a fuel leak may develop. Any fuel leak always increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the top of the fuel tank, and if necessary, repair or replace it. The Mazda recall number is 1403L.
The Low Brake Fluid Warning Indicator May Not Illuminate as It Should

The float portion of the brake fluid level sensor can be forced of its guide rail during filling of the brake master cylinder reservoir. As a result, the low brake fluid warning indicator may not illuminate when the fluid level is low. As of this time, Mazda has not yet provided a remedy for this campaign. Fog Light Socket May Fall Out of Lamp Assembly

The heat generated by a fog light bulb can cause the socket holder to be pushed rearward in the light casing. This, in combination with the normal vibration during vehicle operation, can cause the bulb holder to separate from the light casing. Should this occur, the bulb socket and harness can drop inside the bumper and possibly result in the bumper being burned by the hot bulb. Dealers will install a spring to prevent the socket holder from separating from the lamp case. The Mazda recall number is 1103F.
