Ford has recalled certain 1996 Taurus, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln Continental vehicles for a concern with the transmission park mechanism. In some vehicles, the park pawl is not rotating as necessary to enter the park gear. This could cause the vehicle to roll out of control. Dealers will inspect the park pawl shaft for rotation. Shafts with restricted rotation will have a shorter shaft installed that will not restrict rotation.
Recalls are issued for cars with safety-related defects or problems

IF THE "AUTOLAMP" SYSTEM IS BEING USED TO ACTIVATE THE EXTERIOR LIGHT (INCLUDING HEADLAMPS), THE HEADLAMPS COULD SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING.
