These Honda Fit models are being recalled a second time to correct a concern of water intrusion into the driver's power window switch that was not completely addressed by the first recall. Water entry into the switch can cause switch failure and possibly a fire. Dealers will inspect the switch, if damage is found the switch will be replaced. If no damage is found the owner will be asked to return at a later date when more replacement parts are available to have the recalled switch replaced.
2008 Honda Fit Recalls
Honda is recalling certain 2007-2008 Fit vehicles because the low beam headlights may stop working. This is a result of a poor electrical connection at the connector for the low beam headlights. If low beam headlights stop working, the driver's ability to see and be seen will be compromised, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the affected connector and perform necessary repairs.
Under severe conditions, water may enter through the driver's window and reach the master power window switch, causing overheating and possible failure of the switch. Smoke, melting, and fire could result from the overheating. Dealers will inspect the switch and install a cover around the switch to prevent water entry. The switch will be replaced if damaged and a cover will be installed. The recall began March 19, 2010. The Honda recall number is R28.
