Erratic Fuel Gauge Operation on Buick Park Avenue

It is common for the fuel level sensor in the fuel tank read the fuel level incorrectly. The sensor must be replaced to correct the condition. Our technicians recommend having the complete fuel pump module replaced on high mileage vehicles.

problem details
2001 Buick Park Avenue 140,000 mi,
When I turn my gas guage will travel either to the empty position or it will travel the opposite direction to the full position intermitent problem also gives false mileage left on digital readout on dash
1997 Buick Park Avenue 80,000 mi,
Guage ok at greater than 1/4 tank level. Below 1/4 tank level guage was erratic and occasionally would bounce wildly side to side. Tank level needle ended up stuck under empty pin and stopped acting erratically but no level indication until low fuel light illuminated. Miles to empty and low fuel light continued to work almost flawlessly. Replaced fuel tank punp and sender, now need to unstick the gauge needle to have a working fuel tank level gauge again.
the fuel gage dosen't work
The fuel gauge will go erratic, going from empty to full, I never can tell how much fuel I have. Every time I fill the tank, I have to reset thr trip odometer so I can track how much fuel I have used/ to go.
2003 Buick Park Avenue 120,000 mi,
Fuel level sensor (Gauge) indicates full tank when tank reaches half full. Has not been fixed, waiting for G M to reconize they have a inherent problem and order a recall. This is a knowned problemb for many years and yet it has not been corrected. This will be the last GM car I will purchase.
2000 Buick Park Avenue 145,037 mi,
Fuel gauge erratic. It bounces back and forth from empty to full.
fuel gauge swing to the right or left when I turn
2002 Buick Park Avenue 154,678 mi,
Gauge goes to full on 1/4 tank
2001 Buick Park Avenue 106,000 mi,
THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD SWING BACK TO FULL AFTER ABOUT 200 MILES AND THE ONBOARD COMPUTER WOULD SHOW A FULL READING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD LIGHT UP. THE SOLUTION IS TO HAVE SOMEONE SHUT OFF THE LIGHT AND KEEP THE TANK FULL. THIS MEANS FILLUPS AT 2OO MILES RATHER THAN AT 350.LARRYM
2000 Buick Park Avenue 150,000 mi,
gauge needle reads full all the time after the fuel gets down to about 3/8ths of a tank.
2002 Buick Park Avenue 140,000 mi,
Fuel guage worked fine in top half of range but became erratic in bottom half so never knew when we were low on fuel. Pulled fuel pump and sending unit assembly out through trunk access-fairly easy. Sending unit has a variable resistor with wipers on it to measure fuel level. the wipers had just worn out and would not make contact with the resistor reliably-hence the erratic readings. I replaced the sending unit and it solved the problem. Having same problem with my 2000 chevy PU except gas tank must be removed to fix it :(. Must be planned obsolecence on GM's part.
2000 Buick Park Avenue 114,600 mi,
replaced complete pump and sending unit at 112,150. needle now moves from full about 1/8 inch after about 200 miles and mpg indicator reads about 50 mpg local driving.
1997 Buick Park Avenue 60,000 mi,
When the fuel level dropped below about 1/3 tank, the fuel gauge would read out sporadically. Sometimes the needle would drop past "E", other times up to "F", and other times quickly flicking between "E" and "F" and anywhere in between, particularly during right hand turns. The fingers on the fuel level sender float gauge had dissolved and had to be replaced using one piece from the ACDelco PT2262 wiring harness kit. To do this, the fuel pump had to be removed, but thankfully there is an access panel in the trunk, so the tank did not have to be dropped.
2000 Buick Park Avenue 136,000 mi,
It jumps back and forth and when I turn a corner it goes to empty and then back over to full maybe sometimes have you never know
2002 Buick Park Avenue 148,600 mi,

My gas hand never reads correct. The car ran out of gas and after putting gas in the car trying to start it killed the battery now I believe my fuel pump has gone bad
