The fuel level sensor in the fuel tank may fail causing erratic fuel gauge operation. Our technicians tell us that on high mileage vehicles you may wish to replace the complete fuel pump module assembly if this condition occurs.

Fuel gauge does not show proper level of fuel. I have run out of gas twice since I bought the vehicle in 2010. I have not fixed it, I just keep track of my mileage, and once I have driven 220 miles, I know it is about time to fill up. My mechanic said it would be costly to replace.

  • haven't fixed it yet becuase I just found out the fuel pressure regulator has gone out and I thought it was the fuel pump. Next step is the new fuel pump to fix the fuel level sensor with is in connection with the sender in the fuel pump.
