Front Wiper Motor Replacement

The front wiper motor may need to be replaced when the windshield wipers stop working, work intermittently, or the if wiper arms stop in the incorrect position when the system is turned off.

How to Replace the Windshield Wiper Motor

  1. Remove the wiper arms
  2. Remove any covers or panels that cover the wiper motor
  3. Disconnect the wiper motor from the wiper arm mechanism/linkage
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector
  5. Remove the wiper motor
  6. Install new wiper motor
  7. Perform items 1–4 in reverse order

Note: If only one wiper arm stops working, it is probably because of a loose wiper arm attachment bolt/nut. This can be quite common—periodic tightening of these bolts is a good idea.
