Body, Interior & Misc.,September 26, 2014
RepairPal Expert Overview:

The Restraint Control Module (RCM) is the "brains" behind the airbag system. Portions of the module are coated to help prevent moisture intrusion. The coating can crack and when exposed to humidity the printed circuit board may short circuit. This could cause one or more of the airbag system components not to function as expected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Replacement parts are currently not available, a second notification letter will be sent when they are and dealers will perform the necessary repairs.

The steering gear transmits the input from the steering wheel to the front wheels, allowing the vehicle to turn. 20 2013 Ford Fusion models are being recalled because a retaining clip may be missing inside the steering gear. As a result, components inside the steering gear could become dislodged, impairing steering ability and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the steering gear to correct this concern.

Vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine can experience an engine overheating condition. As the engine overheats, fluid leaks can develop. If leaking fluid comes into contact with the hot exhaust system, a fire could result. The remedy for this recall is still under development. At this time Ford is advising owners of affected vehicles to contact their dealer.

RepairPal Expert Overview:

When headlamps are manufactured, the plastic housings are created in a manner that prevents them from deteriorating and becoming dull and hazy. If this occurs, the headlamps will become less effective and driver visibility will be decreased. Ford will replace the headlamp assemblies on the affected Fusion vehicles.
