If the vehicle is involved in an accident, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pre-tensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail. If this happens, the seat belts may not properly restrain the front seat occupants. This would lead to increased risk of injury.
The steering gear motor mounting bolts may corrode and fail, causing power steering assist on the vehicle to be lost. This would cause extra effort steering the vehicle, and could result in loss of vehicle control.
The doors may be difficult to latch, and the latches may not fully secure the doors in the closed position. This could allow a door to open while the vehicle is in motion.
One or more of the components of the airbag system may not function as expected in the event of a crash.
The back of the driver and/or passenger seat may become loose, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
A fuel leak may develop from the fuel tank area.
Steering ability could be lost unexpectedly due to an internal issue with the steering gear.
Vehicles equipped with the 1.6L 4 cylinder engine may develop an engine overheating condition that can lead to fluid leaks and possibly an engine fire.
The headlamp covers were not manufactured properly and may become hazy over time, reducing their brightness.
