Recalls

Ford has recalled certain 2000-2005 Focus vehicles in states that use road salt because corrosion may build up at the pawl pivot area of the rear door latch. This may prevent the door from latching properly. If this occurs, an occupant could fall out of the vehicle. Dealers will install a lower rocker seal to the door to prevent corrosive material from entering and will evaluate the rear door latches, which will either be lubricated or replaced.

Ford has recalled certain 2000-2001 Focus vehicles because the battery cable insulation may become damaged. This may cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate and the vehicle may fail to start. Dealers will secure the battery cables as necessary and verify proper routing. If insulation damage is present, the cable will be replaced.

Ford has recalled 2000-2001 Focus vehicles in states where road salt is used because the rear wheel bearings may corrode. This may cause noise and premature failure. The wheels may eventually begin to wobble. Dealers will replace the rear wheel bearings and seals.

Ford has recalled certain 2000-2001 Focus three-door and wagon vehicles due to a faulty second seat back hinge pivot. When the seat is folded and then restored to the upright position, the pivot may fail. This may cause the seat and the seat belt to be unsafe. Dealers will install a revised seat back hinge pivot.

Ford has recalled certain 2000 Focus vehicles because the interior trim panels at the headliner on the sides may not be able to absorb enough energy in a crash. Dealers will replace the A-pillar trim panels and revise the headliner in that area.
