The left rear door lock assembly was not manufactured correctly and as a result, the child lock may not engage properly. When the child lock is not engaged, the door can be opened from the inside, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained child. Dealers will inspect the the left rear door latch and replace it as necessary.

Vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine can experience an engine overheating condition. As the engine overheats, fluid leaks can develop. If leaking fluid comes into contact with the hot exhaust system, a fire could result. The remedy for this recall is still under development. On vehicles equipped with 1.6L engines, the cylinder head cup plug (freeze plug) may become dislodged, resulting in significant loss of engine coolant. As leaking engine coolant evaporates on the hot engine, the glycol may ignite, causing an engine compartment fire. An engine overheating condition could also occur. Dealers will seal the existing plug and add a secondary plug cover to correct this concern. The Ford recall number is 12S39.

Certain vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine were assembled with an engine compartment fuel line which may split, resulting in a fuel leak. Any fuel leak always increases the risk of a fire. Owners will be notified and instructed to stop driving their vehicles and contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to arrange for pick-up of their vehicle. Incorrect Carpet Padding Positioning May Affect Braking and Acceleration

Due to mis-positioned carpet padding, the left side trim panel on the center console may be pushed outboard of the intended position. This would reduce the clearance relative to the pedal package. The reduced clearance may result in the driver's foot contacting the side of the brake pedal while transferring the foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal. This could increase stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will removed the carpet padding and replace the left-side console trim panel to correct this concern.
