Recalls

Chrysler is recalling certain 1997-2000 Dodge Dakota, 1998-2000 Dodge Durango, and 1997-2001 Dodge Ram 1500/2500 models because sound deadening material inside the steering wheel may become dislodged and interfere with the clock spring ribbon, which can cause an open electrical circuit. An open circuit in the clock spring will illuminate the air bag warning light and disable the air bag system. With the air bag system disabled, there is an increased chance of injury in the event of a crash. Dealers will replace the clock spring to correct this concern.

Vehicles may not have adequate clearance between the left front brake tube and the power steering hose, which can cause the brake tube to wear and a brake fluid leak. Loss of brake fluid can reduce braking efficiency, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the brake tube and power steering hose for wear and replace them if necessary. A power steering bracket will be installed to insure adequate clearance between the brake pipe and power steering hose.

Chrysler is recalling certain 1997 Dodge Dakota, Neon, and Viper; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler; and Plymouth Neon models because the air bag may deploy without warning when the ignition switch is turned off. Unexpected air bag deployment can result in occupant injury. Dealers will replace the air bag control module.
