The Check Engine Light may come on because a component of the oxygen sensor stops working. Replacement of the failed sensor should correct this concern.

The "Check Engine" light as well as the "Track Off" and "VSC" lights came on. The Lexus dealership told me the cause was a failed O2 sensor and recommended I replace both front sensors even though only one was faulty. Total $850.00

got this checked out because of the light, and they told me it was a bad sensor that has no effect on how the car runs, but was going to be several hundred dollars to replace, so I didn't get it fixed, but the only problem is that the constant check engine light could be masking another problem.

Intermittent check engine light coming on, going off. Mechanic tells me there is a failed oxygen sensor, and will be $417 to fix. I have authorized the repair. Car did not seem to be having problems whether the check engine light was on or off, but I wanted to get it fixed since the car has been stellar for these 15 years of ownership.
