Brakes, September 26, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

These vehicles use a vacuum pump to supply power assist for the braking system. The vacuum pump can fail unexpectedly due to insufficient lubrication. This would reduce braking efficiency, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will make modifications to allow for proper lubrication of the vacuum pump in order to correct this concern.

For Models: BMW 128i, BMW 135i, BMW 328i, BMW 335i, BMW Z4 sDrive

Electrical & Lights, February 7, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The vehicle battery is connected to the fuse box via a heavy duty cable. It has been determined that the cable connection at the fuse box can degrade over time, resulting in increased electrical resistance. This increased resistance can cause the connection point to overheat and break, resulting in a loss of electrical power and causing the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the positive battery cable connector and secure it with an improved method to correct this concern.

For Models: BMW Z4 sDrive

Electrical & Lights, September 5, 2009

RepairPal Expert Overview:

A defective crimp connector can cause increased electrical resistance in the seat belt tensioner wiring. Increased resistance in the wiring could cause the belt tensioner not to deploy in the event of a crash. If the belt tensioner does not deploy in a crash, injury could result. The belt tensioner wiring will be repaired free of charge. The recall began September 5, 2009.
