A dirty air filter may affect engine performance, so it's important to have it serviced. If you don't, you may experience one or more of these symptoms:
- Poor gas mileage
- Reduced engine power
- Higher emissions
When Should It Be Serviced?
- The air filter should be inspected, cleaned, and/or replaced every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, sooner under dusty driving conditions. Having it serviced at these intervals will help reduce the chance of any related drivability concerns.
How It's Done
A technician will remove the old air filter, clean the air filter housing, and install the new filter. Space on newer vehicles and be limited. In some cases replacing the air filter is not as easy as it sounds!
