Loss of One or More HVAC Blower Motor Speeds on Oldsmobile Cutlass

Problem Description and Possible Solution

The HVAC blower motor may stop working at one or more speeds due to a faulty blower motor resistor block. Our technicians recommend to confirm the resistor is at fault by first checking the operation of the switch.

Lost blower setting #1, then #2, then #3.....only 4&5 working right now. Time to fix it!
I know this car very well, it has been well maintained but: a few years back speeds 1,2, and 3 became inoperable. This past summer speeds 4 and 5 went out with the exeption of random operation only to quit seconds later. This has me second guessing everything I thought I knew. I replaced the relay and of course it didn't change a thing. The motor made no noises and operates too smoothly to be the culprit....? I'm stumped.
Just stop working 1&2 went out now 3 4 an 5 did
blower not working on setting 1-2 and now barely blowing or not blowing on any setting
Speeds 1 and 2 quit working
replaced resistor
motor only works on hi setting 4 & 5
