After driving for either 1 mile or sometimes 18 miles the ABS and Brake light come on at the same time. Sometimes when I stop and turn off engine and re start the light stays off for awhile but usually comes back on.

ABS went out after only a few thousand miles but unfortunately after the warranty had expired.
Repair shop wanted $1500 to repair it. I've been waiting for a recall on this as I've heard it's a common problem with Safari and Astro vans.
Also I've driven without ABS for about 30 years.A few more won't make any difference

My problem is the same one that is described in the original problem report. The only exception is that the problem manifested itself soon after the vehicle's warranty ran out. This happened around 55000 miles.
