What is your question?
This is the first summer I drive with a Honda Insight and I noticed the AC stops working while the car does not move. Why does it happen? Any connection to the ECO button?

it is NOT an ECO MODE issue.. it is a fan issue… you can sit there and turn the eco mode on and off and it doesn't affect the air conditioning @ ziptie12 … I own an Insight and that is the first thing i tried. PUSHROD's answer is correct.
The radiator//A/C condenser cooling fans ran not working!! While driving at road speed, ram air takes over... No fan(s) needed... While in slow traffic or stopped... Fans got to do the work.. Not DIY, need testing by mechanic!
Thank you! Is this a common problem for Honda Insight?
Not so much an inherent problem for any particular make but a common result of inoperative cooling fans.
The 'Insight' is a HYBRID --- When in 'ECO' mode , the A/C will NOT come on, because of the 'auto-stop' feature. Turn OFF the ECO mode , and the engine will stay running and you will have A/C.
Makes sense.. You'd think they'd have Insight enough to put that in the owners manual...
Oops! , it is , they are probably not the original owner??? Other than the Accord , none of the older Honda Hybrids(U.S. models) Are electric/belt driven compressors I need to study-up on them , but I think ALL of the newer ones are electric compressors.
Thank you all! I suspected it had to do with the ECO mode. Surprisingly (or not) I called Honda Tenafly where I bought the car to inquire and rather than first suggesting me to check this before coming over (and I specifically shared with them my suspicion), they asked me to bring the car. Does not help them to build a good reputation.
