Does the temperature gauge seem to work correctly? Check the fuses for the fan in the underhood fuse panel. Try swapping the fan relay for one of the other relays in the panel.
The engine cooling fan should come on at about 190 to 195 degrees, which would be at or close to the mid-point on your temp gauge.
Simply put .. The radiator cooling fans should turn on 'whenever' the A/C is turned on .. IF the A/C is NOT turned on .. Then the fans should turn on BEFORE the engine overheats! .. 'IF' the engine 'IS' overheating, 'THEN' you have a problem! .. Keep this in mind .. With the A/C turned OFF .. It CAN take up to 20 + minutes before the fans turn on while the car is parked and the engine is idling... People are often confused about the correct operation of the 'electric' radiator cooling fans.
