What is your question?
Recently its been giving me a random click of the solenoid once or twice before starting. Yesterday, of course during a blizzard, it took 3 rounds of 5 attempts or so for it to decide to start. Battery is fully charged. No sign of starting, just the click. It doesn't happen every time I go to start it either... The car is a 2010, has around 40,000 miles, and has a manual transmission. I find it hard to believe its the starter this early. I don't have a dealership near me, so to have to take it to one to not have it behave like that while they check it will be a pain in the... Any thoughts?

I literally have the exact problem. I bought the car dec 30 and i had to push start it jan 1 after New Years haha. It's been giving me problems sporadically ever since. It's June now...and still doing it. I need it towed tomorrow. No turn over or anything. Just one click. If I push the clutch in over and over it eventually turns over. Dealer has changed battery, alternator, neutral safety switch and fixed grounded wires....I'm fed up with this haha. This will be the 6th time in the shop in 6 months I've owning. And it's a 2011 kia soul (pre-owned as lease) with 35,000. Are you will having the same problem???
Batteries do not like the cold, Make sure there is no corrosion on battery cable ends, is it kept outside or in the garage.
i would have battery tested and poss repl due to its about 4 yrs old
It's kept outside. It's not showing any signs of stress while I'm turning the key, i.e. Hazard lights dimming. The terminals are fine. I could check the voltage with a multimeter and when I get a chance, get it tested. Just so sporadic, it's 6 degrees today and it started up no problem. Just weird.
It needs to be load tested after sitting overnight in the cold. The multimeter will 'Not' do the job.
Fair enough.. Don't know why I hadn't considered that. Thanks.
U BET.
Just wondering what the problem was. My 2012 manual trans soul started doing the same thing this morning. Just clicked when trying to start it. After a couple of tries, it started. When I got to work, it wouldn't do it again. Car started right up.
Just sold my '11 soul. 16,360 miles. Jumper the 2 wire plug above the clutch, clutch switch, and see if it will start.
Just tell the dealer that and they'll be able to check it? Someone also mentioned yesterday the clutch interlock...is that similar to what you're saying?
Same thing
