The engine also overheats when you run a few miles, and indicates 'check coolant'. The tank dries up without any leaks

Most of the time it is a oil cooler or oil cooler oring failure, hope this helps, recommend you get it taken care of ASAP as if coolant is getting in the oil or overheating can quickly cause serious damage. If you need repairs and would like a FREE Rental/Loaner car call Nick at 757-456-0722 PS these also have a lot of water pump problems so it is possible that it got hot because of water pump failure and that cause oil cooler and/or oring failure and your coolant/oil intermix.
As Previously stated Most of the time is oil cooler and water pump related BUT recommend you get it taken care of ASAP as if coolant is getting in the oil or overheating can quickly cause serious damage
