what is the eng code you are getting, post so we can advise. by the way rodent damage is covered in most insurance now days with a 500.00 deductable
THEY can't figure out why? Or YOU refuse to authorize additional diagnosis?
Your Mechanic, 2K into this problem and every step authorized with assurances that "our guy is willing to bet money on it" that the (you name it: fuel injectors, gas tank cleaning, ECM) is your problem. They've now turned the issue over to their top guy in the state. I'll try to get codes and post in a few days. NO CODES AS PROBLEM IS (BACK TO ORIGINAL CAUSE) THE HARNESS. THE "REPAIR" THEY DID ON WIRING DIDN'T TAKE; WHOLE NEW HARNESS NEEDED...AFTER ALL THE OTHER WORK DONE FOR NAUGHT...
For the time and money you've invested (and definitely patience as we mentioned last post) they must've given a listing of DTCs causing the Check engine light to be on , please post them. IF they haven't given you anything in writing indicating the codes , request it, and please post.
Ziptie 12, I appreciate your continued interest; I haven't posted because I've been away. Toyota has put their top guy in the state on this but he's not available until next week. I will call them this week and get those codes you mentioned. Fortunately, insurance picked up the cost of the electrical harness, however, since ECM didn't solve the problem, I don't think they'll pick up that tab. Best, Andy JUST GOT A CALL FROM TOYOTA. THEY BROUGHT IN ONE OF THEIR ENGINEERS AND THEY ARE "100%" SURE THAT THE WIRING HARNESS (REPAIRED EARLIER) IS THE PROBLEM, I.E. STILL SHORTING OUT SOMEWHERE BUT SOFTWARE NOT PICKING UP ON IT. SOLUTION: REPLACE THE WHOLE HARNESS..AT PARTS & LABOR APX. $1400 ADDITIONAL. INSURANCE MAY PAY SOME..
Greg's Orange Auto, Thanks for your interest. I haven't gotten codes yet. They are putting their top guy in the state on it but he won't be available for another week. Insurance did cover the rodent damage, however, not the ECM as it did not solve the problem. I will get codes in a few days and post. Andy JUST GOT A CALL FROM TOYOTA.
