when I turn key all lights come on but does nothing after that. had starter tested and replaced relay still nothing, but when took relay out and put wire were relay goes it wanted to start.

Problem may be ignition switch..The start signal from the switch to the relay may not be working.. Have someone hold key in start position and probe the rela plg with test light or volt meter..
If auto. trans, try to start it in netural possible safety switch. If manual, possible clutch interlock switch.

Thanks but it could be either of these answers and more too! We just have to guess at it as it comes to mind. Most of the time.
