LOOK TO THE RIGHT OF THIS PAGE UNDER PROBLEMS,THEN CLICK ON THIS,READ................ Engine Coolant Loss and no Leak Noted on Saab 9-3 2.0L engines may become low on engine coolant with no cause found for the coolant loss. Our technicians tell us than in some cases the engine block may require replacement due to porosity. RepairPal Verified Average mileage: 103,121 (30,000–150,000) Engines affected: 2.0L 4 Cylinder Turbo, 2.3L 4 Cylinder Turbo, Turbo 8 model years affected: 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
Another possibility is the coolant level sensor has failed inside the coolant recovery tank... If light is on constantly and coolant IS at proper level, unhook the wire connector at bottom of tank.. If light goes out.. Replace recovery tank! .. (Also called radiator expansion tank)
I found the problem on my 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T. The coolant is escaping from the small tube on the reservoir. I let the car idle for a while and when it was warmed up, the coolant reservoir would fill up and the coolant would “escape” from the overfill tube on the side of the reservoir. Now, I know this isn’t a fix but that’s how the coolant is leaving your Saab. Question now is, why is the reservoir circulating the coolant like that to the point where it fills up and escapes through the tube when the car is hot.
inoperable radiator cooling fans is why it will overhead while stopped - engine idling. It is rare for two vehicles to have same solution - even to similar problems. Just saying.
