Could it also be connected to the driving lights which are on all the time?

This lighting circuit is controlled by switches, relays and modules. Any of them could cause the lights to stay on. I would recommend to have diagnosed by a qualified repair shop to prevent replacing anything un-necessary. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.
