What is your question?
Car has only 61000 miles and Transmission apparently has gone bad. No GM warrent on parts or repair. Has anyone else had this similar problem with a GM Car? And, if I had problems with an original equipment transmission why would I want to buy a factory new replacement. Do you feel rebuilt is as good? Thank You!

I manage AAMCO Transmission in Louisville,KY. First new transmissions are only in New cars. Everything else is rebuilt. At AAMCO we rebuild your transmission completely. It is completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up and you can get a lifetime warranty on 2 wheel drive vehicles.
Check out Jasper Engines and Transmissions; 3yr 150,000 mile nation wide Warranty. I use them because the other people find excuses to not warranty. Find a shop near you or call them to find someone near you to install it for you.
Have this scanned for transmission codes!! Aamco will do it free!! Light does not have to be on!
No but the car is not drivable and is at another auto repair shop. So, A little embarrassing to take to an Aamaco dealer by having a tow truck come get it at that dealer. Do other transmission shops have this diagnostic equipment? Please let me know. Joe Watson, joewatsoninc@comcast.net
I will let you know if this works. I am not sure this Garage has a means to Scan the Transmission. I know AAmaco does but that is at a different location. Is a Scan Transmission code a common thing for most good mechanic Garages?" joe
If they want to stay in business or if they are certified they should have the equipment. If they don't, you need to use someone else from now on.
Thank you for the advise! Question: here is what the car is doing. At a stop light in Drive position the engine just Revs up and it will not go forward. When I switch to Manual I can shift thru 1st and 2nd AND then need to put in Drive and the car runs normal until the next stop light and I needed to repeat what I did. Then it stopped going forward all together. The only gear that worked was reverse. Does this sound like a complete Transmission rebuild..or is it related to the "clutch" Can just one part be replaced without a total rebuild? I am anxious for your reply, thanks. joe
