All the warning lights are on. The mechanic said the cluster needed to be replaced at a rather high cost. I hope this is a problem others have solved. I've soldered bad circuits clusters in two other vehicles which worked well for years and was hoping for the same type solution for the Intrigue.

Usually it is caused by corrosion on a wire or a poor connection. Otherwise, you can try this : http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X2001+oldsmobile+intrigue+instrument+cluster.TRS0&_nkw=2001+oldsmobile+intrigue+instrument+cluster&_sacat=0 Your solder solution may very well work and is worth a shot. Look for a bad wire first.
there are some repair services on e-bay for your cluster depending on what's wrong with it fairly cheap.i don't see any reported problems with your cluster.but maybe someone will see this and reply back to you, that's having or had a problem with theirs.
Does it act just like you turned the key to the ON position but without starting engine? .. Other gauges still working ok?? .. Tested ignition 'electrical' switch??? .. Scan test of BCM//instrumen cluster any help????
