I removed the cam sensor and looked in hole where sensor was located. I wanted to see the magnet but all I saw was an empty square shaped hole. I assume that the magnet had been there but had fallen out. Does anyone know what I would see if everything was in it's proper place?

"Google" 'hall effect' then you might understand better (making working on it easier).......although I just checked on 'wikipedia' and it's a little more technical than I was figuring!
go and buy one and you will see what it looks like then repl it near the crankshaft pulley. for pics ck out www.alldatadiy.com
It hesitates and runs rough when starting from a stop. It also has stalled a couple of times. The engine shuts down and will not start. It will then start up later when the engine cools down.
Needs to be checked while it wont start. Parts that MIGHT be at falt are too pricy just to throw on it. Ignition module, coil pack, crank sensor or mas air flow sensor among other things as well. Simple test is when it stalls check for ignition fire, if ok most likely the mass air flow sensor on this engine!!!! ...........CAM SENSORS give 'very' little trouble!
