What is your question?
Last week my car would not start. I jiggled battery cables and got it to start. Went to an auto parts store and they installed a battery and tightened everything. Today it happened again. No lights, no electrical, nothing. I raised the hood and found the battery clamp down loose and checked the battery connectors for still being tight. I heard the door open alarm going off and started the car. Really hurting as this has 224,000 miles on it and my newer car is in the body shop for two weeks. Help!
Thanks but that's the obvious answer. Not that easy as Xterras have two reported issues I got from another source: 1) Ignition Relay Switch; 2) Distributor bearing can lock up and not allow a start. The only Nissan mechanic in town is on vacation this whole week, so I will dig into it myself this weekend.
I AGREE 100% with you , but the reason I am suggesting the obvious again, is because last year one of our 'master techs' at the dealership I'm at , got fooled by 'hidden' corrosion' on the positive terminal.EXACT same symptoms, when it cranked it was great ......then ... BOOM , nothing, and if you checked (which I did-at first by wiggling), they were tight. After his third starter, I volunteered to check it out. Pulled the positive off completely and it was glazed with a nice shiny coating of corrosion. Chipped , scraped and sanded off til clean COPPER, put it back on --DONE! Would either of the things you mentioned , distributor bearing or relay , be affected by wiggling the battery cable? In ANY way? That is the info I see , and what I'm basing my call on.
Thanks. That sounds great. I'll look at it.
