Can jump-starting a vehicle cause an engine fire?

What is your question?

The Nissan Versa was jump starting a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Nissan had been running for approximately 5 minutes while connected to the Jeep. The engine burst into flames. The red cable on each end was fried. I am not sure if it is related to other Nissan recalls for engine fires.
