remove belt and turn all component pulleys by hand to see if one of them is in a bind,hard to turn,froze up

THEN following #1s suggestion , with belt off and out-of-way , start engine and make sure the noise is NOT present. IF you still hear the noise with all external drive belts off , then you have an INTERNAL engine problem , which you may want a qualified shop to then diagnose.
