i wouldn't worry to much about the horny blowing..i would ask uncle when he put the new battery in,did he see a bunch of sparks flying, then he saw what he had done and changed the cables back, turned the battery around in the correct place? all vehicle batteries are clearly marked at each terminal with a PLUS and a MINUS sign/symbol. also, the battery cables are clearly marked/color coded,RED being the POSITIVE cable and BLACK being the NEGATIVE cable! there is no telling what got fried or how much it will cost to get it fixed! i stopped at a store a couple weeks ago, there was a guy under his hood asking everyone that walked by for jumper cables and to use their vehicle to jump start him. i knew this guy,but something is different about him know(DRUGS) i could just tell by all the weight he has lost and the way he was talking.he ask me for cables and to use my truck to jump start him. i told him i didn't have any, which i did,and i really felt bad about telling him that.i walked into the store and turned to look back at him and his car. as soon as i did he jumped about 3 feet in the air.i ran back out to see what happened.when i looked at his battery,i didn't need to be told anything. it blew his battery to pieces,i mean pieces.i don't jump start anyone anymore, unless i hook all 4 cable ends myself.no excuse for what uncle did,he did not pay attention to what he was doing, and will cost someone a good bit to get it fixed. by the way,AUTOZONE,ADVANCE,O'REILLY,etc install batteries for FREE...
The battery cables could have quite possibly been hooked up backwards .. (Reversed polarity) .. That would 'definitely' cause all those problems! ...... Good luck!
