What is your question?
I was told by an unauthorized mechanic that my automatic 2001 Isuzu Trooper needed a complete transmission overhaul. How much will the diagnosis be? Or is he wrong and its something else? What will it cost me to fix the problem? Is a detailed list for parts and labor available? Then I can show him if he's right. Thank you, Becca G.

Probably want to find an "authorized' (maybe you mean 'certified' technician) mechanic , with Isuzu experience , to diagnose/test it. Might be worth the tow bill , for a second opinion.
if you have an AAMCO close to you, they will do a free diagnosis on your transmission. there is no way to list parts and labor for your transmission here.if its going to be a complete rebuild it will be costly,as far as how much, you may want to look for an independent, local, trusted transmission repair shop in your area for diagnosis and or repair.i really do see how an unauthorized mechanic can just tell you that you need a complete transmission rebuild, unless they are just that smart !
Thank you for such a timely reply. My trooper has been parked in front of the garage for 10 months. I tried to start it up last week and nothing. The battery may need jumped or a new battery. I'm not mechanically inclined. To get in touch with my ex is out of the question. So, this journey begins and ends with me. The AAMCO (highly recommended) is 10 miles down the road. I freely admit that I'm clueless and have never dealt with things like is before. AAA (?) What path do I take 1st? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
You mention 'AAA' , is a battery something they may cover (if you have them)? Only way to know is to call them , and/or check in whatever papers/contract you have. Maybe a friend could install a good brand (NAPA or AUTOZONE GOLD) ? Then , if you could give us some info on what symptoms it had and why the trans is suspected as bad? No movement? Slipping while shifting gears? No reverse?
