What is your question?
Hi again. Didn't see how to add to my original post so I am creating a new one. This is what I asked & got 4 terrific replies: 2.4L 4 Cylinder, Peoria, AZ, February 04, 2014, 22:27 Rookie Computer diagnostic showed no engine or powertrain issues, yet I have a huge issue with my car shifting between 1st & 2nd on acceleration. When idling in Drive, it feels like I am on a bucking bronco. When in Park or Reverse it smooths out just fine. This started after having right side axle assembly replaced & a new seal put into the tranny where the axle slides in. I am at my wits end with worry. Please bear with me if I am not clear on this & I'm sure with your expertise you will know what I am talking about. Here's what happened: I returned the car to the shop on Thursday 2/6/14 (today) & the diagnostic code came up p0303, they found the spark qualit in the 2-3 ignition coil was putting out an arc at 20,000 volts & the arc was visible to the eye & hitting the engine head. It had burnt a hole in the spark plug wire! The spark plug was in good condition. Another $400 later, the mechanic said 'I guarantee you will be very happy now & there are no more problems with the car.' Off I drove & 5 miles later the original problem started all over again. I immediately called him & he was dumbfounded. We talked & he begged me to bring it back to him in the morning. I told him I am done because the KB on my car is $1300 trade in, $2000 private & I've spent $1300 on it in 24 hours. I am not putting one more red cent into this, what I now consider, piece of junk. We hung up & then the 'check engine light started going on/going off/going on etc. I STILL feel in my gut it is the transmission. NO WAY am I fixing or replacing it. I want to rid myself of the car now while it still has some value left in it. My son wants to 'wait & see what happens over time.' I told him if we wait we won't have a car period! My husband, who was a NYS Certified Inspection Mechanic & ASE Certified Mechanic is deceased & I just need an unbiased opinion as to whether my thinking is right or wrong. I hope some of you don't mind giving me your opinion. Thank you very much.

Ok, this is another story that needs another ending! First the transmission is NOT your problem! Didn't it run ok, at least for awhile, after the "misfire" was fixed? There was no trans. work done at that time so it ain't the transmission,,,it is misfiring again! The flashing check engine light indicates an engine misfire is occuring. Your best choice is to return to the shop and let the mechanic check it and if it is the same, code PO303, if should be fixed free of charge! You can't give up on it at this point! Now, before you do anything else, what was done that you paid $400. dollars for, exactly? Just trying to help.
you should have a warranty on previous work so take it back as suggested
I did just that Greg. It was the 1/4 coil acting up as well as the 2/3 yesterday. All seems to be well now. Keeping my fingers crossed lol.
That's why I reposted pushrod, to get help. I appreciate your response(s) so much. Thank you. It ran ok on their test drive after the repair. How long they drove it? Have no clue. I got exactly 4 miles from the shop when it started again. I paid for the #3 coil & wire that was burnt to be replaced. I am on my way to the shop now. I actually am hoping that by the time I get there it is acting up again. Will let you know what happens.
Even if it is not acting up, the code will be stored in memory and the mechanic can rescan it for that code. Hope it works out!!
Hi pushrod! The 1/4 valve was misfiring worse than the 2/3 was yesterday! He showed my son & I & we were flabbergasted. Anyway, he only charged me for the part. The car is running great now. Keeping my fingers crossed. lol. Thank you so much for your advice. We really, really appreciate it. You helped considerably.
You R welcom!
Pushrod I want to make you laugh. How about we went out to the car today & had a flat tire? lololol. Figured...ok. picked up a nail or whatever at the shop. No big deal. Called AAA, put the donut on, drove down the street to Walmart where I bought the tires 6 months ago. How about there was a hole in the sidewall??? lolol. Gonna call my mechanic on Monday & demand to know what he did to my tire, just to bust his balls. Hahahaha
True story! Lady comes to the shop, almost fat RR tire, pluged it using a yellow handle 'pluging' tool while she watched, she pays me then leaves and drives approx 5 miles, comes back with a yellow handled flat blade screwdriver stuck in the same damn tire!!!. Now i like to have never convinced this mad as hell lady that i did not have anything to do with this freaky event! I showed her i still had my yellow handled 'plugging' tool which is totally different from her mystery flat blade screwdriver. I have been doing this for 42 years and have seen some crazy s..t but that takes the cake! This story is hard to believe but it's NO BS!!! So yeah, raise cane for a moment with your mechanic, then pass this story along! BTW, glad you'er on the road again!
ROFL!! Being the widow of a mechanic I know for sure this is a true story. My hubby used to come home full of them, especially because he worked in a shop in a very ritzy part of Westchester NY. Rich people are crazy errr...eccentric. lol Thanks!
