My "change oil" sign comes on every 3,000 mi. I recently put synthetic oil, and I heard 3,000 mi is an old rule. May be somebody can advise me on how to reset this annoying alarm, and on frequency of oil changes

The oil change reminder comes on due to your driving conditions/habits. It may come on in 1500 miles or may not come on for 9000 miles. The computer looks at the outside temperature, how hard you accelerate, length of trip, etc. To reset the light turn the ignition key to the on position and within 5 seconds push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor 3 times steadily. If you did it correctly, when you start the vehicle the light will flash 3 times and go out.
GOT MANUAL? IF SO CHECK IT OUT! ALL THIS INFO. SHOULD BE IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. JUST RESET THE REMINDER TWICE IF YOU WANT TO EXTEND MILAGE BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, THATS THE EASY WAY!!!!!
Instructions 1 Insert the key and turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position. Do not start the vehicle. 2 Cycle through the settings by pushing the DIC (Driver Information Center) button on the instrument panel until the "oil life reset" light displays. If the "change oil light" does not come on, you have properly reset the system. you can reset the mileage intervals but you need to do it with a tech 11 scanner. you can put anything in there you want to.
IF YOU WANT TO EXTEND THE MILAGE JUST RESET AND DRIVE ON. JUST KEEP A RECORD!!
