how do I get out of 4x4 lock? Light indicates just 4x4 but it chatter and pops

Sounds like I ran over a cement block while baking up, but didn't change anything, then did the same thing while tuning forward, still didn't change. Pulled to the left bad the next day but that cleared up. What do I try now?
