What is your question?
The Honda mechanic said 40-50% of timing belt replacement or water pump replacement will result in rear main bearing seal leak.

BS!!... T- total BS!!! .. Ask, who ever told you that, HOW changing timing belt or H20 pump on front of engine can cause an oil seal to start leaking in the rear of engine!

Thanks so much for clearing up my problem...............
What was the final outcome?
A leaky rear main that the local dealer wants ~$1200.00 to replace, that won't admit any wrongdoing as the cause. So, for now, the final outcome is an oil drip mat on the driveway where my wife parks the Ridge.
Just changed my belt. Had impact on it a long time.Had to look on internet to see you need a breaker bar and a 3ft pipe to bust damper bolt. After the the timing belt fix l noticed oil in drive way. There must be some truth to the impact story!
I have been replacing timing belts, water pumps and just about anything else you can think of on Honda vehicles since their official introduction in 1973 .. I can say for a fact that the removal of the crankshaft balancer bolt with an impact wrench has NEVER created a problem at all on ANY vehicle I have ever repaired over the many years I have been doing automobile repair .. So I simply refuse to believe there is any connection between removing the *FRONT* crankshaft dampener bolt with an impact wrench and the *REAR* main oil seal leakage! .. Perhaps a Google search will reveal the real culprit .. Happy motoring. â–ªï¸â–ªï¸â–ªï¸
The "certified" Honda Mechanic says Honda cannot answer that question, having been asked many times over the past few years. I might suggest that the repeated percussions from using an Impact wrench to reinstall the "flywheel" could be the cause, but that reasoning has been blown off by Honda, though they supposedly admit there IS a problem...
